Spring Event Series 2

Some of NTGA’s top gymnasts travelled to Sheffield on 3-4 June for the second Spring Event Series of the year, with Elite members aiming to secure a place at this years British Championships and NDP 8 members looking to qualify for the NDP Finals. 

The team of 15 NTGA members secured six individual gold medals over the weekend at the English Institute of Sport, with a further four silvers and one bronze medal to add to the collection.

In the Elite 13-14 Female Evie Joseph’s second round was awarded the highest execution score of the weekend and saw her score a total of 136.295 to finish 1st with team-mate Brodie Hove-Coleman in 2nd place with 133.205.

There was another NTGA one-two in the Elite Senior Female, with Amanda Harris winning 1st place with a score of 146.915, edging Zainub Akbar into 2nd with 145.365.

In the Elite 17-19 Male event three rounds of strong execution scores gave Ross Tait a 1st place finish as he scored 138.840, with Josh Jones just missing out on joining him on the podium scoring 136.210 to finish 4th.

Tyler Cole-Dyer secured a silver medal in the Elite 11-12 Male as he registered the highest first round execution score of the weekend, finishing with a total of 136.230. Reece Coleman finished in 9th with 123.460.

After leading the first two rounds Abigail Brown was edged into 2nd place in the Eilte 15-16 Female by just 0.025, scoring 129.885 on her way to silver. Charlotte Price scored 122.825 to finish 5th.

Elsewhere Lois Moseley missed out on a podium finish by just 0.3 in the Elite 11-12 Female, finishing in 4th with 128.825.

At NDP 8 there was a convincing victory for Freya Newcombe in the 11-12 Female, winning with a total of 120.690. Mollie Johnson also made the podium after scoring 117.735 to finish in 3rd and Emily Chapman had to settle for 4th place with a score of 113.160.

Alex Oliver’s superior time of flight in the first two rounds gave him an early lead in the NDP 8 15-16 Male, before going on to secure the win with a total of 129.735.

Making his debut at NDP 8 Rafferty Booler-Stewart rose to the challenge with a particularly impressive second round to win the NDP 8 11-12 Male with 126.810.

Gymnasts will now be waiting confirmation from British Gymnastics on qualification to the British Championships & NDP Finals respectively.
