NDP Finals 2017

Sixteen NTGA members travelled to The International Centre, Telford on 8-9 July 2017 to compete at the 2017 NDP Finals having recently gained qualification. 

Bringing home a total haul of nine medals, including three gold, five silver and one bronze, the NTGA members’ relished the chance to compete at the pinnacle of the domestic calendar for NDP 1-8 gymnasts.

Level 8 proved to be most successful for NTGA, including a one-two finish in the 15-16 Male category where Harry Johnson’s superior execution scores proved the difference as he took 1st place with a total of 86.96 ahead of NTGA team-mate Alex Oliver in 2nd with 84.79.

Rafferty Booler-Stewart continued his fine form with a convincing victory in the Level 8 11-12 Male, his score of 87.71 proved too much for his competitors. In the 11-12 Female Mollie Johnson was pipped to the post by just 0.06, the narrowest of margins saw her take 2nd place with 82.78. Freya Newcombe joined Mollie on the podium as she secured a bronze medal with a total score of 80.75 and Emily Chapman just missed out on a podium finish, a score of 80.06 saw her in 4th.

An impressive two rounds from Alex Pitfield gave him a score of 53.40 which clinched top spot in the Level 6 13-14 Male category to bring home a gold medal. In a tight affair Lara Norman held her nerve in the 15-16 Female category to come away with a silver medal, scoring 52.00.

At Level 5 Georgia Roseblade scored 53.80 to secure a silver medal in the 11-12 Female category. Sofia Rands just missed out on a podium finish in the 13-14 Female, finishing 4th with 54.60 and in the 15+ Female Esme Rands finished 6th with 53.30, followed by Isobelle Odom in 9th with 50.60.

Jacob Fleet performed a solid first round routine to help him on his way to a 2nd place finish in the Level 4 11-12 Male category.

At Level 2 Lewis Maitland-Knibb had to settle for 4th place in the 13+ Male, scoring 49.70 to miss out on a podium finish by just 0.10. In the 11-12 Female Megan Thomas scored 50.00 to finish 7th.

Beth Waine capped her debut campaign with a 4th place finish in the Level 1 9-10 Female.
