Spring Event success in Sheffield

A sixteen strong team of NTGA members travelled to the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield on 2-3 June to compete at the second Spring Event Series of the season. 

With eleven FIG level members hoping to secure qualification to the British Championships and a further five NDP Performance members looking to qualify for the NDP Finals there were strong performances across the weekend.

At NDP Performance level Reece Coleman jumped to victory in the 13-14 Male category as superior first and third rounds proved the difference leaving him with a total score of 131.215 and top spot on the podium. In the same category Rafferty Booler-Stewart scored 127.755 to finish 5th.

In the 9-10 Female category Beth Waine went one better than last time out, scoring 75.565 to win a silver medal and Georgia Roseblade recorded a score of 123.789 to finish 3rd in what was a closely contested 11-12 Female category. Mollie Johnson just missed out on a podium finish in the 13-14 Female category as she scored 124.770 to finish in 4th.

At FIG level there wasn’t much to separate the top five gymnasts in the 11-12 Female category as Freya Newcombe secured a silver medal with a score of 129.465, closely followed by Ellie Vassel in 3rd with 129.435 and India Farrar in 5th with 128.970. Emily Chapman finished in 13th with a score of 122.105.

A two horse race in the 13-14 Male category saw Tyler Cole-Dyer open up a 5.4 mark gap between himself and third place as he won a silver medal with a total of 141.275. Josh Jones pipped teammate Ross Tait onto the podium in the 17-21 Male category as he secured 3rd with a score of 151.520, with Ross scoring 151.225 to finish 4th.

In the largest field at FIG level Lois Moseley scored 132.550 to win a bronze medal in the 13-14  Female category and it was bronze again in the 15-16 Female category as Abigail Brown secured 3rd place with a score of 135.510, whilst Evie Joseph finished 6th with 132.065 and Brodie Hove-Coleman finished 16th with 94.280.

Members will now wait to receive official confirmation from British Gymnastics to find out if they have gained qualification to the British Championships and NDP Finals respectively.
