Huge Regional Medal Haul
NTGA sent a team of 54 regional gymnasts to compete in the National Development Plan (NDP) Regional Series Event at Loughborough Leisure Centre on Sunday 3rd February.
The first event of the calendar year and second of this campaign proved successful as the team returned with a huge haul of 34 medals, including 15 gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze, along with a further 9 team medals.
Hollie Love lead the way for NTGA with victory in the NDP1 9-12 Female category, registering the highest first round score of the day on her way to winning with a total of 52.30. She was joined on the podium by Freya Tauber Anderson who scored 51.10 to finish 3rd. Elsewhere at NDP1 Cameron Elliott scored 48.85 in the 13+ Male category to win a silver medal and Lilyana Mineva won bronze in the 13+ Female as she scored 51.05.
At NDP2 Jamie Dartnell won the 11+ Male category with a score of 49.40, whilst Sophie Mundy secured a 2nd place finish in the 13+ Female scoring 49.60 and Tori Glover completed the set with bronze in the 9-12 Female, registering a score of 49.05.
There was an NTGA one-two in the NDP3 9-12 Female as Phoebe Brown jumped to 1st place with a two round score of 51.00, she was followed by Mia Scott in 2nd place with a score of 50.15. In the 11+ Male category Auguste Yi Cheng Yoong took the gold medal with a score of 50.55 and was joined on the podium by Sam Wensley who finished 3rd with 24.25. Joselina Poole also won bronze in a closely contested 13+ Female category with a score of 49.55.
There was very little to separate Benjamin Small and Zakary Gayton in the NDP4 9-10 Male category as Benjamin scored 51.85 to take top spot, just ahead of Zakary, who registered the highest second round score of the day, in 2nd with 51.80. Sydney Wootton scored 51.60 in the 11-12 Female category to come away with the gold medal and Megan Thomas finished 3rd in the 13+ Female category with a score of 50.35.
NDP5 proved to be the most fruitful category for NTGA with three individual victories and a further three second place finishes. Freya Portrey topped the pile in the 13-14 Female category as she scored 50.95 to win gold, followed in 2nd place by Megan Loughney who scored 50.40. Ella Thomas won the 15+ Female category with a score of 49.30 and was joined on the podium by Esme Feasey who scored 48.15 to win the silver medal. In the 11-12 Female category Freya Miles scored 49.30 to win 1st place and Jacob Fleet matched that score in the 13+ Male category which saw him finish in 2nd place.
There was an NTGA clean sweep in the NDP6 15+ category which saw Sofia Rands come out on top as she scored 51.05 to win gold, followed by Esme Rands in 2nd with 49.25 and Mela Moseley in 3rd with 48.90.
There were many impressive performances at Club Level, with some members making their competitive debuts, including William Potter who won the Club1 7-10 Male category with a score of 46.25 and Isla-Belle Trimble who scored 50.00 in the 7-10 Female Category to win gold. Lucy Haywood joined her on the podium as she matched Isla’s score of 50.00 but finished 2nd on tie-break rules.
At Club Level 2 Ryley Trimble registered two consistent routines to win gold with a score of 49.40 in the 7-10 Male category and Ruby Johnson also won gold in the 7-10 Female category as she scored 43.20.
The 7-10 Female category at Club Level 3 saw the first six places go to NTGA, with Millie Vassel clinching 1st place with a score of 51.40, just ahead of Sofia Falkner in 2nd with 51.10 and Florence Dormer in 3rd with 51.00. In the 13+ Female category Olivia Robinson scored 50.65 to finish 3rd.
