English Qualifier 2
A successful weekend for NTGA in Bath on 13-14 May saw many of our squad members take a step closer towards qualification for the English Championships later this year.
With four individual wins and a further five silver medals, nineteen NTGA members will be hoping they have done enough to qualify as part of the top sixteen in their respective categories across the two qualifying events.
A busy week for Andrew Stamp saw him claim his second win in eight days having competed for Great Britain at the French Masters Open from 6-7 May. In the Male 15-17 years category in France Andrew dominated the qualifications before securing victory in the final with 56.730 and it was more of the same on home soil as the World & European junior medallist finished in 1st by a margin of 3.7 marks in the Gold 15-16 Male years category.
In the Gold 13-14 Female category there was very little to separate Brodie Hove-Coleman & Evie Joseph throughout as they made it an NTGA one-two on the podium. Brodie just edged Evie in the zero final, claiming the gold medal with 49.560 compared to Evie’s 49.470, a difference of just 0.09.
A solid performance from Ross Tait earned him a silver medal in the Gold 17-18 Male as he gained the highest execution score in the final round to finish with 52.100. Josh Jones was unfortunate to miss out on a place on the podium as he finished in 4th with 49.040.
There was more silverware for NTGA in the Gold 15-16 Female as Abigail Brown led after the first two rounds only to be pipped to top spot in the final round by just 0.27, finishing with 50.25. Charlotte Price finished in 6th as she scored 47.010 in the final round.
Zainub Akbar secured a 2nd place finish in the Gold Senior Female after leading the qualification, scoring 48.85 in the final round. Amanda Harris, whilst trying to overcome illness, unfortunately had to withdraw.
There was another tight affair in the Gold 11-12 Male as Tyler Cole-Dyer finished in 2nd place after the zero final with 51.030, just 0.16 behind the leader. Reece Coleman finished in 5th with 44.880. In the Female category Lois Moseley just missed out on a spot on the podium, finishing in 4th with 46.360, closely followed by Ellie Vassel in 5th with 45.600.
In the Silver 11-12 categories Freya Newcombe & Rafferty Booler-Stewart started where they left off after the first qualifier, both winning the female and male events respectively. Freya gained two places in the zero final to finish 1st with 44.600, whilst Rafferty’s convincing performance saw him win by 1.7 marks with a final score of 46.120. Elsewhere in the female category Georgia Roseblade finished 7th with 40.870, Emily Chapman finished 8th with 40.110 and Mollie Johnson finished 19th after qualifications.
Alex Pitfield was just shy of the podium in 4th after scoring 42.840 in the Silver 13-14 Male event, Harry Johnson scored 43.090 to finish 5th in the Silver 15-16 Male and Lara Norman finished 7th in the Silver 15-16 Female with 41.560. In the Silver 13-14 Female Sofia Rands finished 20th and Mela Moseley was 28th.
