Congratulations Andrew
Northamptonshire Trampoline Gymnastics Academy (NTGA) is immensely proud to congratulate Andrew Stamp, who has made the decision to step away from competitive trampolining after more than a decade of remarkable achievements.
Originally from Market Harborough, Andrew began training in Artistic Gymnastics before switching to Trampolining. Having shown promise at his local club Andrew joined NTGA on recommendation to further his talent in 2012.
In his first competitive year with NTGA (2013) Andrew progressed from regional competitions to Great Britain selection for the Junior World Championships, where he finished 4th the 11-12 boys event.
The following years cemented his status as one of the world’s top junior trampolinists with Junior World medals in 2014, 2015 and 2017. However, his crowning moment came in 2018, when Andrew made history as Team GB’s first-ever Youth Olympic medalist in Trampolining.
Andrew’s transition to senior ranks was equally impressive finishing inside the top 20 at the World Championships in 2019. At the 2022 World Championships, he recorded the highest placed finish of a British male in the Olympic era (4th) and became Team All-Around World Champion.
There was a special homecoming in 2023 as the World Championships took place in Birmingham, with Andrew finishing 10th in a thrilling contest. He also helped Great Britain secure a historic bronze in the Men’s Team Final.
For the past thirteen years, Andrew has been a deeply valued and inspirational member of NTGA. Andrew has been a joy to have in the gym and it has been a privilege to support and celebrate his journey every step of the way.
Andrew has always demonstrated unwavering commitment and professionalism, serving as a fantastic role model, particularly for the younger generation. Whether in triumph or in challenge, he carries himself with the same grace and elegance he shows on the trampoline. He is always there for his teammates, both in moments of celebration and in times of need.
His dedication to the sport has been exemplary, particularly considering the hours of travelling from Market Harborough to Northampton in his early years and then from Birmingham whilst studying at University for the last four years.
Crucial to Andrew’s journey has been the incredible support network around him, particularly the amazing backing from his family. The strength, encouragement, and stability provided by his parents throughout the highs and lows of elite sport has been truly exceptional.
Above all, it is these qualities, his character, his humility, his generosity, that we will miss day-to-day in the gym. Andrew’s legacy will be the lasting impact he has had on those around him.
We are unbelievably proud of the person Andrew is and everyone at Northamptonshire Trampoline Gymnastics Academy extends their heartfelt congratulations along with the very best wishes for whatever comes next.
